Encoding: A Future Setting is an ongoing series bringing together the work of contemporary artists from across the Americas using visual and sound art. The 2022 programming features works by Vivian Caccuri, Benvenuto Chavajay, Szu Han Ho, Crack Rodriguez, and Warren Realrider. The exhibition structure and the artwork are encrypted languages. Together they instigate an expansion of future perspectives speculating on the impending present, with terms related to identity, home, and environment.

La programación de 2022 presenta trabajos de Vivian Caccuri, Benvenuto Chavajay, Szu Han Ho, Crack Rodriguez y Warren Realrider. La estructura expositiva y la obra de arte son lenguajes encriptados. Vivian Caccuri
“The New World Syrup & The Fever Hand” is a performance lecture inspired by the yellow fever “come back” in South America. This old disease is deeply connected to the colonial sugar plantations in the Americas that created the perfect environment for aedes aegypti, the carrier mosquito imported from the African continent by the European slave ships to the Americas. The artist makes use of a music piece composed by herself on a large church-style pipe-organ, drawings, historical images, video, sounds and her own voice to tell this semi fictional story.

In this performance and installation, Szu-Han Ho constructs both a physical and acoustic barrier from found artifacts inspired by architectures of resistance. MERIDIAN RESPONSE explores structures of protection, porosity, and improvisation.
